Aloha! I had the great pleasure of going to Hawaii this past July for 10days. The best part was that I was there visiting family, and got to experience the island with locals. So, instead of being over in crowded Waikiki, I got to enjoy the north shore and stayed in Haleiwa. I was there with my dad and it was his first trip to Hawaii, so we did do some of the tourist-y stuff, but we also got to see some great beaches. The main reason for the trip was a family reunion that was on the 4th of July. There was great food, games, music and fun. The day after the reunion we took it to just relax and go to the beach that is right around the coroner from the house. It was so nice to just sit there and enjoy the beautiful ocean. My dad was in the water and a sea turtle (honu) was right there next to him. He thought it was the best thing, and was so excited to be that close. The next day we went to the PCC and LDS Temple. One day we island hopped to the big island and saw Volcano national park, rainbow falls, and big island candies. Volcano national park was interesting. We went on a short tour/hike and the guide gave us lots of facts. When we got up by the crater it was a wierd sensation because the air was cool with a breeze, but then that breeze would bring by the hot steam and so you would be cold, then hot, then cold, then hot. There were also these spots called steam vents, where there would be steam just coming up from the ground. I have so many beautiful pictures its hard to pick just a few to share, but I'll try to do my best. It was a much enjoyed vacation. Thank you to Kalima, and his family for letting us stay in their home and making us feel like we've always belonged there. Love you guys! :)
